Sometimes I'm inspired by my mood, or a random line that comes to mind. My writing is a little choppy, but that's the way I like it. I write rock/emo music. It depends on your point of view and the song. I never really have to keep myself inspired because I can look at my guitar and be inspired. Sometimes you have to go back and remember why you fell in love with music in the first place. Usual after listening to some of their music for awhile I am ready to create. If you get an idea for a song write it down immediately. If you can write a lead for immediatly and get it recorded or down on paper. Then just continue to work on your idea until you have created a song. I play folk/rock, so that is the style that I write in. I like the style because it is pleasant to listen to, for me. Everyone's taste is different though. Some may prefer rock, classical, jazz, blues...etc. Do what feels right to you. Just have fun with it.
